【2021】APABI_August

Dear APABI members:

This edition of our newsletter features diverse news items from a couple of our members. First, as part of our APABI interview series, Sweta Sud, Academic Director of the PNG Institute of Banking and Business Management (IBBM), describes the situation of the banking sector there in the wake of the pandemic. The whole economy will see major lasting changes. Meanwhile, Singapore is building on the efforts of both its government and private sector to make great strides towards a more sustainable future. Its combination of green finance with technology can serve as a model for others in the region.

Finally, the finance sector can take pride as a key factor in the pandemic response. Our unique perspectives can help guide difficult decisions involving risk and benefit.

Please also see below for highlights and events by our members. In particular, the annual conference of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers in September will host representatives from several member institutes. We also have more interviews coming up, and we look forward to hearing from you in the coming months if we haven't yet.

 Regards,
 Hank C.C. Huang
